No yarn? No problem!

I have been meaning to try doing this recycling project for awhile and yesterday I felt like it was the perfect day for it. It was snowing outside and I had a whole day and nothing to do!

So, I separated grocery bags that had the same color tones, I had only about 40, cut them into 1" strips and made myself some plastic yarn, how fun is that?! Then I just sat down on my couch and started crocheting away... but as you can guess, I ran out of plastic yarn and have to wait until I collect some more bags to finish this tote.

I am so happy with the way it's turning out and how easy this is that I intend to make more... hehehe. If you got inspired by this, and would like to do it yourself, click here to get wonderful instructions for the recycled tote bag.

Oh, and I am not stuck with my other project anymore, I finally decided what to do with the variegated yarn I had, it was about time! 4 attempts later... I'll post a picture of it as soon as I am finished with it. (Maybe later on today)

Have a wonderful day everyone!

  1. I think this idea is really awesome! You are recycling and at the same time, making something unique yet functional. I love it. I bet the bags are strong, right? I'd love to see one, when you finish.
