Playing around with pictures and food ideas

First I want to show you a couple of pictures I modified using this website. Aren't they fun? The idea came from my friend's blog - thanks Ellen for sharing.

Well, the other thing is that I'd love if you guys could share some recipes for quick and easy meals, casserole recipes for example. I have been trying to leave a couple of meals ready in the fridge when I have time, but I'm running out of ideas, so any suggestions are welcome!

  1. First off, the edited photos are great. I especially like the one with your doggie. :-)

About Ravelry: It's social craft network, but it's all crafting. There are patterns available and groups to join specific to a craft, etc. I recently joined because Alhana sent me a link. I also noticed that many of my Flickr contacts are on there too. You go to the website and request an invitation. They will tell you what number you are on the waiting list and will send you an email to confirm in a couple of days. You will not be able to see anything in Ravelry unless you are a member, so here is the link if you are interested: http://www.ravelry.com/

I will think of some recipes and comment later on that.

    Happy Sunday! :-)

  2. I love the dog pic!

Funny you should mention easy recipes bc I'm just thinking the same to get ready for the week. And I'm going to post on my blog the recipe for Chicken Cordon Bleu, since I'll be making some today for mid-week meals. :-)

Hope things are going well with Baby Lucas!

  3. Wow, those photos are so neat! I have got to check that out!

Hope you and little Lucas are doing well!

I'm on Ravelry, and like it, but with flickr, facebook, etsy, and blogger...I find it very hard to manage it as well. But it is a very neat networking site!

  4. Okay... just love the edited photos! So cool! As for a recipe...

    Cheeseburger Casserole

    1.5 lbs ground beef
    peppers & onions, chopped small
    Seasonings to taste
    1/2 box elbow macaroni, cooked
    2 cans chopped tomatoes
    2 cups shredded cheese
1 sm can sliced mushrooms (optional)

Brown beef with peppers & onions with seasonings. Layer 1/2 beef mix, then 1/2 macaroni, 1 can tomatoes, 1 cup cheese. Add mushrooms if using. Then repeat layers ending with cheese. Bake in 350 oven until lightly browned and bubbly.

My mom used to make this when I was young. You could probably even layer this all in a crock pot and heat on low for 2-3 hours.

  6. I love chicken casserole with chorizo sausage. I don't know if you have it over there. It is a spicy sausage containing paprika which makes it spicy. I fry it in a pan in it's own oil, then add onion, peppers and mushrooms. Add diced chicken and cook through. Transfer to an oven dish, add stock and simmer for about an hour. I love it with mashed potatoes, but you can part boil potatoes and then add them to the casserole if you prefer.

Beef stew is another favourite. I part simmer the ribeye beef to make it tender, add pearl barley and butter beans, carrots and oniion. Do you know what a dumpling is? It is made with flour and suet, half fat to the flour. I use 6 0z plain flour to 3 oz of suet, (I use the vegetarian variety of suet. Mix it with water and then, instead of making small balls of dough, I roll it out in one large piece to fit over the top of the stew itself. Place the lid on the dish and cook for about 1 hour. yummy. Dev X

  7. How are things going? I hate cooking so anything easy is great for me! Try looking at this blog http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/ She has a new crock pot recipe EVERY DAY. She was even on Good Morning America. Hope all is well.

  8. I love the museum picture. Get a copy of Martha Stewart Everyday Food Magazine, we cook from them all the time, they have freeze it meals, meals for 1, and most of the recipes are quick and easy. My favorite is chicken cutlets with mustard, ham and swiss cheese roll-ups, broil low. Make some cous, cous with peas, raisins, and carrots chopped very fine. Easy meal, I make this with some blonde brownies for meal deliveries for new baby family's in our neighborhood. Another easy one is Chorizo, or any sausage, with chopped potatoes and onions, roasted in the oven, super quick. Lucas is so cute and I hope you are doing well. I am on Ravelry as gwengoods, and I am just starting to spend more time with it.
