Hat, Shawl and Dress

I have been busy, as always - thank goodness! How have you guys been? This week I finished this black brimmed hat that is on its way to my friend in West Virginia...

I also made this brown Lover's Knot Shawl for my sister. This is a new brand of yarn that Michael's is carrying, it's 100% acrylic, but it's very nice and the colors that they have available are stunning!

A while ago I won some Anna Maria Horner fabric on a sweepstakes and since then I have been trying to find a pattern that I really like to use the fabric. Well, the search is over! I fell in love with this free dress pattern that I saw here, but as you might know I don't know how to sew very well, so I used the alchemy tool on etsy and had people bidding to make my dress, I ended up accepting Beneath the Willow's bid and I am happy to say that I'm really happy with her work!

This is a picture of my dress, it was taken by Lori (the person that sew the dress). I have worn it already, but didn't have a chance to get a picture of me in it because baby Lucas was quick and peed all over my new dress, while I was at the grocery store - believe me, I rushed out of there pretty fast! LOL
Yesterday I decided to make Lucy's Caramel Shortbread and boy, it's good! I didn't find golden syrup, so I just used Maple syrup and it works perfectly, the only problem is finding the strength not to eat the whole thing at once!

This morning me, my hubby, baby and dog went to Starbucks (note: we usually just buy coffee on Sundays, but we have company coming over tomorrow, so today was the day!) to get some iced coffee (decaf Mocha for me and Hazelnut for hubby), then off we went to the waterfront for a short walk and to sit down and appreciate the beautiful weather is the Pacific ocean. It seems to me that this will be a wonderful weekend!

  1. WOW! What a nice day you've had today. That's so neat - "bidding to make a dress." The lady did a good job and it is such a pretty fabric!

  4. That is a beautiful shawl..sigh! I have so far resisted Lucy's caramel thingys, it is so hard though. There is no way I could have them in the house and not eat every single one of them all by myself..no sharing! Dev x

  6. You really didn't eat all those shortbreads in one go, I am impressed, that wouldn't happen around here! The shawl is stunning, there's a new technique to master.... have a great week, hugs Debs xx

  7. I love the hat. What pattern did you use? My daughter would love one of these hats,

You have been very busy. I love the shawl and the hat. Such gorgeous work. What kind of yarn is that?

Your dress is wonderful. I didn't know you could have someone bid to make something for you. Did you choose a pattern or did they? It's great.
