Hi there!

I hope everyone is doing well, I've been doing good myself. Have I mentioned that I've lost 18lbs since I began dieting? I tell you, I feel really good and excited to be getting back to what I was before pregnancies... hehehe (I'm still hungry all the time, but it's worth it!)

Yesterday a friend of mine, came over to visit, she's from the same city I am from in Brazil and she's now living with the host family I used to live when I first came to the US, so she was nice enough to bring a whole bunch of children's books (in Portuguese) that my sister bought for Lucas, now we can have tons of fun reading in the afternoons! Well, she also brought some cute handmade gifts for me. Look at them, aren't they cute? They were made by her mom, she used some kind of tree seed, I'm not really sure what kind, for the body. I think they're adorable!

Another thing I have been meaning to show you for a very long time is this baby blanket that I made for a friend of mine that's expecting. The reason I didn't show it here before because I didn't want to spoil the surprise. It's all made in the waflle stitch, it was tons of fun crocheting it.

Note: Glo is having a $50.00 gift card giveaway, make sure to visit her blog and read the rules to enter. It's a great opportunity to help people!

Have an awesome week!

What a wonderful surprise you received from Brazil! Are you teaching Lucas to be bilingual? If so, that's wonderful as well!

  6. First of all, "you go girl"! 18 pounds! I am impressed, inspired, and a little jealous...hehe.

Those chickens are so cute...looks like they may be made from a small gourd. I am a chicken nut, have them all over the place. Brad counted them one time...it was over 40!

Blankie is really cute! I am working on a baby afghan myself and am close to finishing. What a satisfying project they are!

  7. Hi there! Congratulations on your weight loss! You should be very proud!

Your blanket is absolutely GORGEOUS!! Did you follow a pattern or just the basic waffle stitch? I agree with Dawn, baby blankets are VERY satisfying projects. They are the one project I get the urge to go back to again and again.

You also seem really determined to instill your culture into your son, I think it's really nice.

Thanks for sharing everything, I really enjoy reading your blog, you also seem to have such a positive attitude, which is also something I like ALOT!!

  9. Teaching portuguese to your baby is such a clever idea! it will be wonderful for him to be able to speak more than one language! it will be easy for him to learn more languages in the future. My mom and dad were croatians, and my mom did same as you do with your son, and now I speak (fluently) croatian an english and I am also speak italian! and never needed to go to language school!
E agora quero aprender portugues, mais eu nao tenho professor!

Congratulations for the beatiful blanket and for the weight loss, and your mama's hens are so lovely! she is gifted!

    Beijinhos!

  11. Hi there! Well done, 18lbs, I am very impressed and must try harder - the excuse of pregnancy weight starts to ware off when your children are 8yrs & 10yrs old!!!!

Your baby blanket is just stunning, I love that stitch I will have to find a quiet moment to give it a go.

Busy busy here, just finished the second coat of paint on the bathroom and hoping to get the flooring down before christmas along with a very long list of other things to finish, one day it will all be beautiful..... Have a lovely day, hugs Debs xx
