Top Knot Hat - Free Crochet Pattern




Top Knot Hat 
(US Crochet terms)

Abbreviations:
Ch = Chain
Dc = Double Crochet
St(s) = Stitch(es)
Rnd(s) = Round(s)

Skill Level: Easy

Supplies:
- Worsted Weight Yarn
- Crochet hook size US H-8/5.0mm
- Stitch Markers
- Yarn Needle
- Scissors

Gauge: 8 dc and 5 rows = 2" (10 cm) square

Size:
0-3 months (13-15" head circumference)

Notes:
Hat is worked in a continuous round, do NOT join.
Use a stitch marker to keep track of your rounds.

Start with a magic ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 2 (does not count as a dc), 6 dc in ring. (6 dc)
Rnds 2-5: 1 dc in each st around. (6 dc)
Rnd 6: 2 dc in next 2 sts, 1 dc in next, 2 dc in next 3 sts. (11 dc)
Rnd 7: 1 dc in each st around. (11 dc)
Rnds 8-10: repeat round 7. (11 dc)
Rnd 11: 2 dc in each st around, (22 dc)
Rnd 12: (2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next) 11 times. (33 dc)
Rnd 13: (2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next 2 sts) 11 times. (44 dc)
Rnds 14-20: 1 dc in each st around. Join with a slip stitch.
Fasten off. With yarn needle, weave in loose tail.

Finishing:
Make a simple knot with your fingers with the skinny tip you made (rounds 1-10), wrap the tip around your fingers and pull it through to create the knot.
