Lemon Slices - Free Crochet Pattern

The other day my kids had a lemonade stand in front our house, it seems like it has become a tradition to put the lemonade stand up at least once a year. They make the lemonade from scratch and I even think that squeezing the lemons is one of their favorite parts of the whole process.

So being the crochet addict that I am, I decided to make some lemon slices to dress up the stand and after putting some pictures on instagram, I had some requests for the pattern, so I thought I'd write it up for you.

Supplies:
- Worsted weight yarn in yellow and white
- Crochet hook 4.00mm
- Yarn needle
- Scissors

Round 1: With the white yarn, make a magic ring. Chain 1 to start, single crochet 8 inside of the ring and pull the tail to close the gap. Finish the last single crochet by joining the yellow yarn, like you see on the picture below. (8 sc)

Note: you can fasten off the white if you prefer, I just left it hanging on the back because we will reuse it in round 6.

Round 2: With the yellow yarn, 2 sc in each stitch around. (16 sc)
Round 3: *2 sc in the same stitch, 1 sc in the next stitch* 8 times. (24 sc)
Round 4: *2 sc in the same stitch, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts* 8 times. (32 sc)
Round 5: *2 sc in the same stitch, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts* 8 times. (40 sc)
Round 6: Join the white yarn and working on the front loops only (see picture below), make 1 slip stitch in each stitch around. Fasten off the white yarn leaving a long tail (about 50 inches)

Round 7: Working with the yellow yarn and on the back loops only (see picture below), make 1 slip stitch in each stitch around. Fasten off the yellow yarn leaving a long tail for sewing the lemon in half (about 15 inches)

Using the yarn needle, make 8 walls by going through the center of the lemon, under and through the front to make it look like this:

Fasten off the white yarn and weave the white yarn ends.
Now, using the yellow yarn tail, fold the lemon in half and whip stitch the two sides together to close it shut. Fasten off and weave in the tail.

This is it, your lemon slice is ready!

You can use different colored yarn to make different kind of citrus, like limes or oranges, for example. Enjoy!
