Mini Easter Baskets {Free Crochet Pattern}

We love holidays at our house. We love to decorate, to celebrate and to give gifts. However, gift giving can turn out expensive, so I try to be creative.

My kids are giving their teachers and friends these mini crochet baskets filled with 5 or 6 little chocolate eggs that can be found at pretty much any grocery store for a very reasonable price this time of year.

Supplies:
- Crochet Hook size H-8/5.0mm
- Worsted Weight Yarn
- Scissors
- Satin ribbon (optional)

Abbreviations:
Ch = Chain
Hdc = Half Double Crochet
Sl St = Slip Stitch
St(s) = Stitch(es)
BPhdc = Back Post Half Double Crochet
FPhdc = Front Post Half Double Crochet

Instructions:
Round 1: Start with a magic ring. Ch 2 (counts as 1st hdc), hdc 9 into ring, join with a sl st. (10 hdc)
Round 2: Ch 1, 2 hdc into each hdc from previous round, join with a sl st. (20 hdc)
Round 3: Ch 1, BPhdc into each st around, join with a sl st. (20 BPhdc)
Round 4: Ch 1, (BPhdc into the next 2 sts, FPhdc in the next 2 sts) 5 times, join with a sl st.
Round 5: Ch 1, (FPhdc into the next 2 sts, BPhdc in the next 2 sts) 5 times, join with a sl st.
Round 6: Repeat round 5.
Round 7: Sl st around. Do not fasten off. (20 sl sts)
Handle: Ch 15, sl st on the other side of the basket to make the handle, turn and sl st in each ch to make handle firmer. Fasten off and weave in loose tails.

I found the little Easter tags here and printed 4 per page to have the size reduced to fit the itty bitty baskets.

If you make some little baskets, please tag #justbehappycrochet on instagram or Facebook so I can see them.
Enjoy!
