Plaid Cowl / Scarf Pattern

It has been a very long time since I posted anything. I have decided to exercise, read more and spend more time with my friends, so the time on the internet has decreased, which I don't think it's a bad thing. I just need to get more organized to use the time I spend on the internet in a more meaningful way, doing stuff that matters other than just browsing with no purpose.

Anyways, I had my family visiting from Brazil for a month, we did a lot of fun sightseeing, little day adventures and lots of cooking was involved, but I managed to finish a major crochet project and I feel really good about it.

No more babbling, see those gorgeous pictures above? That's my new pattern, the Plaid Cowl/Scarf and it's now available on ravelry, etsy and craftsy.

Cheers!

Silk Sari {Urban Scarf}

For this round of Design Wars I decided to step out of my comfort zone and create with a handspun yarn, Red Heart Silk Sari and oh, I am so glad I did!

I created the Urban Scarf, a boho style scarf that is easy to make, but full of texture and color. Use the coupon code DWSALE from Thursday 04/23 thru Sunday April 26, 2015 and get this pattern 40% off!

The colors are magnificent and the yarn is soft. The thickness of the yarn changes from thin (DK weight) to thick (bulky weight) which creates a beautiful and natural texture.

I paired the silk sari (enchanting color way) with black Red Heart Soft, I wanted to make the colors pop and I think the black helps with that.

and this is the charming color way:

This is my Uptown Scarf and I think it would be stunning if made with Silk Sari! This design is 40% off thru Sunday April 26, 2015. No coupon needed! The pattern has been marked down for this period of time.

Do you like my design? I love hearing from you, so please make sure to leave a comment!

Aztec Scarf

This is my newest crochet pattern, first of 2015, the Aztec Scarf. I am so in love with fair isle, I should even say I am addicted to it. Most of the patterns I have been working behind the scenes are fair isle. I had a real hard time sending this scarf to the photographer, I really wanted to keep it!
Fair Isle (usually a knitting term) is a tapestry crochet technique, where you have work with two strands of yarn at the same time to create color work. You have what we call "working yarn" and you carry another strand and you switch back and forth to create shapes. It's fun and it's rewarding, it takes crochet to another level, in my humble opinion.
Don't be afraid to try, it is really not hard at all.

You can find the pattern on etsy, ravelry and craftsy.

Uptown Scarf

I am proud to show you my new design, the "Uptown Scarf" that I created for the Design Wars mini challenge, using Boutique Swanky Yarn by Red Heart.
The scarf has a beautiful texture and it can be made using any worsted weight yarn. You can find the pattern here. I also created a little video to show you how to make a fun knot, watch it here.
I wanted to take a minute to thank my friend Rena for modeling the scarf for me and Kamieo Photography for the gorgeous images.

Knot Animals Scarf - The Fox

So the fox love is big at our house, my kids love the youtube video "What does the fox say?" and even before that video, they were already in love with fox toys and such, so it felt natural to create a fox scarf!
I have been in love with the knot style for awhile and I noticed that most patterns for that type of scarf were knit, so I created my own.
Now, tell me, aren't those pictures simply adorable?? I sent them to a photographer friend {amanda buechler photography} and she captured some images of her beautiful little girl sporting the scarf for me and I couldn't be happier!
If you want to make your own fox scarf, the pattern is available in my craftsy, ravelry and etsy shops.
Cheers!
